Deputy Director of the Energy Market and Infrastructure Department of the Ministry of Economics for Līga Rozentāle told LETA that the early warning does not mean a crisis, but is a step forward to prevent a potential crisis from emerging in the future.
Rozentāle said that the announcement of an early warning means prioritizing natural gas flows from the Klaipeda LNG terminal through the Lithuania–Latvia interconnection and gas flow through the Lithuania–Poland natural gas interconnection.
“Conexus Baltic Grid” plans to make public the procedures for allocating the natural gas transmission system capacity and the capacity of Inčukalns gas storage, as well as the procedures by which systems users who have already reserved Inčukalns capacity for 2022/2023 storage cycle by March 9 have the option to cancel their reserved capacity.
“Conexus Baltic Grid” will coordinate with directly associated Member States in order to meet the task of prioritizing gas flows.
